Kitchen waste ladder

We replaced a 25 year old Cosco kitchen ladder that still works but the seat vinyl has snapped on the front edge. We've secured it several times with clear tape, but it's time to replace it. We figured if we bought a Cosco "Retro Kitchen Stepstool" we would get the same original style and quality but with new vinyl seats. What a disappointment. The old one we had was built with through bolts/nuts, tread balance rails and strong leg bolt braces. This new stool is complete junk. Cheap Chinese self-tapping screws, cheap 8/32 Chinese pan head screws and built-in (weld) nuts for 8/32 screws. The first thing that happens with these cheap #2 Phillips screws is a strip of Phillips slots and the lock is lost. They even give you 6 extra brackets in anticipation of that, but if you really want to tighten the screws and bolts, they're removable. Garbage. Then stamped shims, poorly fitting at best, not fitting at all. The chair is attached to the underside of the seat with plastic self-tapping screws. The plastic ripped off when properly tightened, unusable. And there are no rails to hold the steps in place, just a plastic slot in the top step that allows the steps to rattle freely. Dangerous. What a disappointment buyers beware this is not "retro" in quality, not even in looks, the seat and steps are significantly smaller than the original Cosco kitchen ladder.
