I love this stool! best in step stool

This chair/stool is perfect. I love its vintage look. I assembled it myself, it took about 30 minutes. As long as you follow the instructions it will be perfectly square and very strong. I love it so much I'm ordering a second one.

Old works great 40 years later

I ordered this to save the world. I have an old one that was passed on and I have twins so I need a second one. The old one works great 40 years later. The new one is terrible. Feet aren't even on the ground. Steps keep getting off track and it hurts to move. I would have returned it on day one if it hadn't kept its calm.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Requires outlet

Cosco calls it upgraded, yes.

I wanted to love this chair again, but I'll get rid of it and find something worth having in our home. Those of you who remember this chair think of a safe, well-made, and comfortable chair. Instead of lifting and extending the stepping mechanism, it simply slides back and forth on a plastic rail. He spends more time off the track than on it. Even on the catwalk, the steps slide independently of the chair, making it very unstable. I missed the reviews where people called it cheap but they were…

Buy a rugged vintage model instead

Didn't know assembly required. I am a 69 year old female and Mondays are not for me. But with the help of a manual Phillips screwdriver it took 2 hours (considering the mistakes I had to redo it). Light green only on new ones. The bad trait is the step you take forward. Its rail is plastic (should be steel like the rest of the stool). With normal use of the stool, this does not last long before the plastic parts break. Wouldn't trust him to climb him, but he's staggering. Cosco had to make them

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

Good but not as solid and useful as the original

Cosco retro step chair, red All ok. However, I wouldn't spend more than 40€ for it. It is slightly smaller than the original chair from the 1950s. And as others have noted, the steps don't fold on hinges like the original, but instead slide in and out on a poorly made system of plastic rails that break easily. Unfortunately it was designed in such a way that retrofitting this poorly designed track system at home was very difficult. I can't help feeling that the designers thought more about how…

Terrible product and seller.

Very low quality product and really dangerous. When the screws are fully tightened, the legs wobble, and I'm guessing that's because they're screwed into the plastic. When I requested a refund and sent it back I was told I would have to pay for the return shipping or donate and they would give a full refund and I would never give such a dangerous item to anyone else or they would give me a 15% Purchase refund and I can keep it. I don't need this item and I don't want to give it to anyone…

It's not what you remember.

I should have read the other reviews before purchasing this poor quality copy of a sweet childhood memory. Don't repeat my mistake. MANY builds that quickly become poorly designed: front and rear struts are misaligned; Plastic guides that wear out badly (this is confirmed by other reviews); thin plastic on the seat and backrest that doesn't stand up to much wear and tear. POOR MAINTENANCE: The top step is bolted to four threaded posts that run through the leg frames. One of these posts spins…

Kitchen waste ladder

We replaced a 25 year old Cosco kitchen ladder that still works but the seat vinyl has snapped on the front edge. We've secured it several times with clear tape, but it's time to replace it. We figured if we bought a Cosco "Retro Kitchen Stepstool" we would get the same original style and quality but with new vinyl seats. What a disappointment. The old one we had was built with through bolts/nuts, tread balance rails and strong leg bolt braces. This new stool is complete junk. Cheap Chinese…

ONE LEG TOO SHORT and a lot of DETAILS JUST NOT KEEP TOGETHER

ONE LEG IS TOO SHORT and a lot of DETAILS JUST KIND NOT TOGETHER I wanted to love this. This is the perfect size for a corner in my kitchen. It arrived today in a box that looked like it had been opened and then taped back together. The first thing I noticed was a lot of scratches on the chrome, chips and missing paint (and some ugly sharp edges), the second thing I noticed was that it wasn't the vivid, really bright red color I wanted was expect. It's a darker red with a slight orange tinge…
