With USB 3 having been around since 2008, I'm still amazed at how many USB 2 drives are still around. The USB 3drive is at least 10 times faster, with better power management and apart from the highest capacity drives, they really don't cost more. You can get a USB 3 drive with the same capacity as these drives for the same price. USB 3.1 drives are apparently a bit more expensive these days. Unless you have a lot of older devices, this USB drive isn't all that impressive. So this 64GB drive offers about 57.6GB of usable formatting space. It is formatted in fat32. Fat32 is widely used and older devices still need it as they don't recognize the newer formats. However, it has many limitations. Primarily, the 4GB single file size and performance and write inefficiencies are due to the use of fat32. I reformatted the drive to exfat, which is more efficient than fat32 and doesn't have a 4GB size limit for a single file. All in all, if you're storing tons of relatively small files, this drive will still fit your needs perfectly. If you're working with really big files, this will save them (after reformatting to exfat), but you'd better buy a USB 3 or 3.1 drive, as USB 2.0 write speeds are still terribly slow for files of that size. the size
