Like a Touch model, but better!

I was hesitant to buy another portable Bluetooth speaker because the Doss Soundbox Touch works so well. This speaker did not disappoint. It weighs more than the Touch model and is physically larger, but not by much. The textured sides give it a snug feel and prevent it from falling when being moved from room to room. The front grille feels pretty stiff, but I don't want to put it to the test. In the box you get; USB to micro USB charging cable, 3.5mm male to male headphone cable and instruction manual. Pretty easy to follow, from opening the box to playing some tunes. Bluetooth was very easy and quick to pair, and the auto-pairing time from off to on is relatively fast. The startup sound is not overwhelming and not too loud. The ring of light around the speaker grille isn't too bright, and the ability to change the backlight mode or just turn it off is good. I personally like the Solid But Fade mode. Now for the sound! Output volume speaks volumes. With 20 watts, it can easily fill even a noisy environment with music. At full volume there is hardly any distortion. The highs are crisp and the mids are right where I like them. Not much for low-frequency output, but the drivers aren't physically big enough to move much for air, so there's not much bass output. I seem to have gained a bit more depth by simply carefully choosing speaker placement in a given room. Corners and window sills appear friendly to him. The "Bass Boost" button at the top looks more like a "low pass filter" to me. The higher frequencies appear to be clipped to give the effect of greater mid/low range. I can't hear the bass anymore so I decided to disable this feature. Comparing the Soundbox Pro with the Soundbox Touch, I have to say that the average volume is very similar for both. However, the Pro was able to mute Touch when I activated both. Now for the feature I bought to try! TWS (True Wireless Stereo) is a way to use two speakers at the same time by connecting the main speaker to a Bluetooth-enabled device. I used my iPhone 6. When pairing with the first speaker I opened, the second speaker was powered on and the add button pressed above both. They connect together quickly and give you indicator lights on the top to show which speaker is left/right. Both meters (if used) are in sync, as is volume and bass boost. I tested them up to 25 feet apart and they synced perfectly. Filling a room with music is a lot easier when you have two of these. You did great again, Doss!
