Perfect for 55 gallons

Works fine for a month. The magnetic mount and swivel radius make it easy to move it around when needed to clean glass or simply redirect the flow to change the water column environment. Installed close to the surface, it draws in air and ejects bubbles that saturate the water column with oxygen. If you don't want this, just wiggle the magnet down a bit. Combined with my top mounted feeder it pushes the fish food into the water stream giving all fish a good aim including the bottom feeders. One risk is that it can ingest tiny fry. But a net, tank or brooder is the right tool to prevent this.
