Review on WD 5TB My Passport for Mac Portable External Hard Drive: USB-C, USB-A Compatible, Blue by A Eh Khung ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Exactly as promised by the manufacturer, high quality.

I took it under Mac, because was cheaper than analogues by 500-1000. (for 6650) more than a year ago. At first I was afraid that under Windows I wouldn’t find drivers or I wouldn’t be able to format it. Deleted partitions, formatted in NTFS. I copied the contents of several old disks, there is still a lot of space left. For storing photos, that's it. Put the utility WD Drive Utilities just in case. During idle time, it stops, when accessed, it warms up for a long time - 5 seconds. You can disable it by safely disconnecting USB devices (if you wait a few minutes, the light will also go out), as well as when you turn off the computer.

Pros
  • 4 TB for almost the minimum cost, WD (I respect the brand), sufficient write and read speed for storing files.
Cons
  • When I copy a lot, it starts to make noise and get a little warm. It can take a long time to connect - somewhere up to 15 seconds. Sometimes you have to move the USB cable to connect, probably because of the old laptop. I'm thinking of buying another disk and making a backup copy.
