The instructions were good but it took some time and practice to get the chain cut angles right. I had an old chain I was practicing on and spoke to my local chain sharpener to get some handy tips on using the machine. Gave four stars because the buttons are all plastic and I would have preferred all metal. Also, when setting the cutting angles, you need to be careful not to over-tighten the plastic knobs, and you need to pay close attention to the angles, as the alignment marks aren't as precise as you'd like. Basically, I'm happy with the car. My advice is to practice with the old chain and take your time setting the cutting angles. By the way, my training chain wasn't good after sharpening as I tried different angle variations. and the settings in the Oregon manual compared to the settings that come with the chains.
