Our fridge freezer doesn't have an ice maker, which is fine as there are just the two of us. But we use ice, mostly in the warmer months, so we either have to buy an ice pack from the store or make ice in the plastic ice cube trays that come with the fridge/freezer. With our freezer almost full (pandemic reality) there isn't much room for a tray, let alone two. These Syntus ice cube trays are exactly what we were looking for. Because they have lids we can keep them in the freezer (rather than side by side) and they're protected from moving objects that might knock them over when they get cold. Yes I could stack the original bowls that came with ref/frzr but they go through a defrost cycle and the bowl covers essentially protect against that and other debris doesn't get on the cubes. Each tray is 21 pieces. ice cubes! I empty the shells into a ziplock bag so they're ready to use later in the day. The silicone trays are very pliable and it only takes about a second to pour cold water over the tray and the cubes will then pop out much easier. At first I tried to just bend the tray and push them out, but it hurt. These ice cubes are held in the tray by suction, so cold water runs over the tray to loosen them. Really glad we didn't purchase a table top electric ice maker as these bowls are perfect for all needs!
