Review on LG BD530 1080p Network Blu-ray Disc Player: A Revolutionary 2010 Model for Ultimate Home Entertainment by Mark Walsh

Great BD player for the price.

This is the second LG BD530 Blu-ray player that I have bought. The first came from WM as a "One Day" special for $65. I figured I couldn't go wrong at this price so I bought it. Especially since its intended use should be up in my bonus room where this TV is used only occasionally. After bringing it home and connecting it to my TV via HDMI and to my home theater system via coaxial audio, I was very happy with the unit. Easy to set up and loads drives (at least the ones I've tried) quickly. In my opinion, it is hard to distinguish Blu-ray from converted DVD with this player. You both look great. I thought it might be because I hooked it up to a 42" Panasonic 720p plasma. Now that I've hooked up the second set to another TV, I still can't tell. Maybe if I put two identical TVs next to two of these players you could see the difference, but the switching between BD and DVD isn't very obvious. My first plans are where to get the "better" for the main TV in my big room later. After using and enjoying the LG for a couple of weeks and finding it on Revain for $69 with free shipping I just couldn't resist so I bought a second one. It also worked well on my 46 inch Samsung 1080p LCD TV. and a Sony HT-CT150 soundbar. The LG BD530 connects to a Sony home theater via HDMI, and an HDMI cable connects from the Sony soundbar to the TV. Just like the 42-inch plasma above, both BD and DVD look great in use despite not being wired up the same way due to differences in hardware. , I can't comment on the network connection for using the internet as I access the internet with the Verizon Air Card that I use on my laptop. I don't have a router or other means to connect this player to the network. Services. I need to go to the LG website, download all the updates for the player to a flash drive, and then download them to the player. I haven't done this yet so I don't know if there are any issues, I highly recommend this device, especially for the price.
