First cake I put on it stained the wood irreversibly. Would have been nice if this was sealed for more friendly use. We did put a liner down first, but since it was used for a cake smash, the cake didn't stay on just the liner, I would expect the same scenario though even just cutting and serving that some of the cake/icing would end up on the wood.
