This is a great product as a macro stand for point and shoot cameras. Ignore the "quick release" and "ball head" claims, but that's great publicity! I raise the top plate until it's vertical and point the camera down. That's just the right height for the camera! My soap dish weighs only 5 ounces. The stand is heavy enough that it doesn't need to be clamped. Very easy to move. Just the right thing for photographing stamps etc.
