Be sure to purchase the correct type of screw for your material.

I loved these screws. Over the years I have used them successfully in many different finishing materials. Including unbranded PVC, Miratec and LP Smartside. This style is different. They are 2 inches shorter than 2-3/4 inches and have more neck cords just below the head. More than half of them don't sit down and start spinning in the hole. Not only does this prevent you from using the fork, it also doesn't tighten the skin. I use boards that are 1" thick (actually 3/4") and go in 2x6 pine or LVL material. I tried some of the old screws and they still work great. So I'm looking for longer old style screws and just bought the last few boxes they had at Menards. which they are phasing out, so hopefully the new style won't stay shorter, no seat. Perhaps AZEK is specific to AZEK only for the screw type and not just the plug, but it seems to be the style most stores stock. Is AZEK a real 1" board? I've never used it so can't tell. In any case, look for older, longer screws if you're using a different brand or material, such as Miratec .
