Wanted to return these but of course the window closed two days before I realized they were defective. They come with almost no instructions, so at first I thought it was operator error. But now I'm sure that a string I've tried setting on slow cycle several times, I'll come back the next night, look out the back door and see it flashing like a strobe light. This leads my neighbor to bananas so they are useless for the purpose I bought them for. Another string could not burn at all for me several times, and then suddenly it works, then it does not work, etc. There is a set of batteries in the package. I don't know what they are for. Obviously both sets have batteries because they last a while. In fact, they are not that easy to install. You might think that a very stiff wire would make things easier, but I struggled with wire most of the time. It would be worth it if they actually worked.
