Okay, so they're not stylish or attractive. But I brought them as a temporary solution to protect a freshly painted staircase until a professional runner can be installed. There is a grippy surface on the back, not sticky, I like it. They stay perfectly in place. On the day the carpet was due to be installed I removed it easily and there was no staining or damage on the steps. Unfortunately, our new carpet arrived damaged and could not be installed. So I took them out of the trash and put them back on the steps. They still clung perfectly to the steps. So if you plan on using them long-term, I love that you can remove, clean, and reapply the steps quickly and easily.
