Suitable for header reduction, but more cumbersome than dpns. They have tiny needles so they are very difficult to hold and can aggravate carpal tunnel or arthritis if you have one. I'm also not a fan of the metal bending that's common with one-size-fits-all round clovers, I just find it embarrassing. But I think it's to reduce the scope as that makes sense. I could easily close a hat knit with 5 stitches, so maybe an adult sock would be fine. The transitions from metal to wood are very smooth, so the threads don't pull or get caught. One thing to note for US knitters as shown in the photo, size 6 is 4.0mm while the standard size 6 for some brands like Boye is 4.25mm. So make sure your needles are matched with projects to start with. I haven't done it and it's not really a problem, but for beginner knitters it can be noticeable. So for the newbies looking for a quick fix to close their hat and don't know dpn this is the right place. Does not completely replace dpn.
