My husband had hip replacement surgery and needed to sit in a sturdy chair with armrests about 2 inches higher than normal. One of our patio chairs would be just right if we could add an inch or so to its height. We thought these chair bases were just what we needed. Well the idea is good but the product is a bit disappointing. 8 risers come with 4 rubber grommets. They attach to the underside of the plastic riser by inserting a rubber stopper into a hole in the bottom. Unfortunately the hole is too big for the plug. So as soon as you put the pad on and flip the riser to put it on the ground, the plug will fall out and the pad will fall off, so you have to be careful with the riser to get it out. on the ground and then align the platform with the riser. The pads are believed to help eliminate the possibility of scratching the floor with hard plastic bumps. However, in use, the pads slide out from under the risers, potentially allowing the risers to hit the ground. Rubber pads don't slip either; Risers slide easily across the floor. To prevent this, I had to put a non-slip pad under each riser, as can be seen in the photos. There are four small rubber spacers that you can insert into the top of the loose ends. They worked well to keep the little tips of the chair legs centered on the risers. Despite the shortcomings, this product works for our purposes.
