Review on 🚗 Pontiac G8 2008-2009 Replacement Folding Remote Key Case Fob Shell with 5 Buttons by Keyecu by Cory Mosley

This was the perfect replacement for my worn key fob that had the rubber peeling off where the buttons should be. The new buttons are made of thicker rubber and are more like the new GM keyfobs. Hopefully this means it will last longer than the old soft rubbers I am replacing. IMPORTANT NOTE: There is a passive transponder (see image) in the key section (Section A) (see owner's manual) of your original key fob. This transponder must be carefully transferred to a new key fob. To open this section you will have to unscrew the screw in the hole with the Pontiac symbol (this is very noticeable on your new key fob since the sticker is not yet attached) and you only have to remove the symbol sticker from the old one. On one side you will see a rectangular transponder inside. Mine wouldn't come out voluntarily and I had to trim it carefully with a dremel. I didn't want to damage it by prying it open with a screwdriver or other sharp object. Take out the passive chip, simply insert it in the appropriate place in the new key fob and save yourself the hassle of cutting out a new key and transferring the key part of your old key fob - it works great too. Make sure the spring is properly tensioned when inserting the button section so that it pops out when the button is pressed. If you have 15-30 minutes patience, this replacement works great. If you don't transfer this transponder to a new key fob, your car will go into engine immobilizer mode and won't start. Needless to say, this happened to me until I discovered the passive chip. Alternatively, if the A section (key section) of the fob is still in good condition, you can just leave that part and click on it in the new B section (button) once you have moved the removed innards. All of my keychains were in good condition. rough shape, so it was worth replacing the entire body.
