Review on Harman/Kardon FLY TWS wireless headphones, black by Stanislaw Szudek ᠌

Average quality, not an outstanding product.

It seems to me that touch-controlled wireless headphones are just the kind of product where it's better to do less, but better. So HK FLY TWS is more likely not about a lack, but about an excess. Let's go in order. You need an app to set up your headphones. I shake, the interface is nice. And then connection problems and a suggestion to read the quick guide. But why does it open as a . pdf file already laid out for printing? How can I see anything there? Why not make one screen instead, but where it will be clearly written what to do in normal cases and how to reset the headphones if something goes wrong? Somehow it turned out to put the headphones into pairing mode and connect them to the phone. Further gestures. Why are there so many? Tap, double tap, triple (! ) tap, tap with hold, double tap with hold, swipe back and forth - and all this is responsible for different functions on the left and right headphones. You will not remember all these magical passes in your life! Plus, false positives. Very often, playback stops when you actually wanted to swipe, or when you just accidentally touched the surface with your hand. Play / pause, rewind - that's enough. The rest of the gestures just get in the way. I recommend turning off just everything that turns off. Honestly, fewer surprises. There are two signal lights on the case - one next to the charging socket, the other on the front panel. I could not remember which signals which of the bulbs mean what. I was able to activate the TalkThrough and Ambient functions a couple of times, then the application stopped responding to pressing these buttons. Automatic ear detection also surprises: sometimes it does not understand that the earpiece is taken out, and sometimes for some reason it considers the case to be an ear. It happened to me when the sound on the laptop suddenly disappeared. The first time ended with a reboot. Then I found out that somehow not turning in the case, the headphones "stole" the sound. About the weight and shape - I'm used to it.

Pros
  • The quality of the packaging, the sound, the microphone, the battery life, the charging speed, the appearance are all on par. The case and the headphones themselves are pleasant to the touch, there are no backlashes or any too large gaps.
Cons
  • Ergonomics, control, form, functionality - everything that is beyond the basic functions. Below is a detailed description. Absolutely hellish switching between devices. You disconnect from the laptop until you open the bluetooth settings on the phone, they manage to connect to the laptop again and so on several times.
