You can use other teleprompter apps and you don't have to use the remote control. They really should be sold separately so the console views don't interfere with the teleprompter views. I use the built-in SideCar app on my MacBook Pro to wirelessly emulate my screen on an iPad Pro. This way I can use the teleprompter app for mac and control the teleprompter video with the trackpad in front of me. You can set the camera zoom to record on your Mac so you can't see it. If you want a wider shot, put your MacBook aside and use an external trackpad. This way you can show almost the entire countertop. If you prefer to be standing in your communication, use the PromptSmart app. It can control the iPad app from your phone. So you just place your phone on a tripod next to you to control the pause and resume functions on your iPad. You can't say you're doing this while the shot is over your hands. This app also has voice recognition and can hear your voice to know when to pause, speed up, resume, etc. I've got the tech. I just need to polish up my act. Haha
