This is normal only for step stools
It's handy that it's there, but my praise ends there. The screw holes under the seat were either not positioned correctly or the seat bracket was not made to measure. The 2 screws were always off center no matter how they were aligned, to the point where I had to use a punch tool to force the screws into place. On top of that the metal base got dirty, had to sand down the corrosion with 2500 grit sandpaper. Definitely awesome but not worth the price
