Don't waste money on something that costs less. I have had many radar detectors and a few were cheap and a few years ago I was very happy with the Passport 8500 and this model works just as well as my old model 8500. I have just returned from a long trip after almost a month of use and it worked great. Several miles ahead of time for K and KA radars. I had a speed trap installed by Fl Hwy Patrol a few weeks ago and was in the lead car going over a bridge, they were on the other side with speed cameras installed and no cars in front of me. I still got about 1/4 mile and avoided a big trap. It paid off that day and it was all for naught on the last ride. Don't fall for the cheaper detector ads and stick with Passport/Escort or Valentine and possibly Belltronics. Others just don't deliver the way they do. I felt 100% protected at 90mph and it makes driving long distances a lot less stressful when looking for hidden cops. Many Thanks
