I bought this mainly for punch, lately I'm making keychains and gift bags. The material, effort, time, etc. that goes into it makes me very careful to use the right tools, take my time, etc. not to ruin anything, because the fabric isn't cheap either. I had a shoulder bag that I made but thought it would look cute with a buckle to extend the strap. To do this I had to punch holes in some pretty thick materials, regular fabric with stabilizer, leather. While I can get by with a fabric awl (grommets or grommets will cover the hole), leather (even faux leather) is unforgiving. I used faux leather but this made a perfectly clean hole, no small bits on the back that weren't quite cut off, it was a perfectly clean punch. I have some heavy duty hole punches (they won't do thick stuff like they used to) so I was impressed with this one.
