This has allowed me to add gigabytes of speed to my HP DV5-1119nr laptop at a very reasonable price. I didn't need drivers (there are already Realtek 10/100 card drivers), they connect instantly and don't slow down the computer or processor by adding an ExpressCard adapter. It is made of metal and plastic, you need a slot adapter to make the 34mm slot fit into the 54mm slot. The ethernet connector protrudes slightly and can be easily removed with a tug or tug. Overall performance is good, with download speeds jumping from 20-30 MB/s to 84-97 MB/s. Copying 4GB files from a laptop to a network folder used to take 2 to 3 hours, now it takes 3 minutes or less. Web pages load faster and surfing becomes more enjoyable. I know this laptop is 10 years old, but it runs Windows 7 64-bit and works as well, if not better, than most modern laptops with a gigabyte adapter.
