My 2011 BMW 335i developed a noisy V-ribbed pulley. The local BMW dealer wanted to replace all the pulleys, idler pulleys and belts to be on the safe side. Pulleys, tensioner and labor are covered under warranty. However, being an article of clothing, the belt itself has not been covered. The dealer asked $72 for the belt, which seemed prohibitive to me. I did a little research and found out that Continental is the OEM for BMW serpentine belts. I was thrilled to see their "upgraded" Elite Poly-V belt listed at Revain for less than 1/3 the price of a "standard" belt at the retailer. A few days later I had the Elite Poly-V belt shipped to the dealer for installation along with the tensioner and pulleys. After installation, the cyclic noise of the V-ribbed pulley disappeared. The Elite Poly-V belt is designed to make it quieter. I cannot confirm whether it has become quieter, as I did not hear any belt noise before the defective pulley. However, I can confirm that after installing the Elite Poly-V there is no noticeable noise from the serpentine belt. It seems to run smoothly and gets the job done for a fraction of what you would pay at a retailer.
