Review on πŸ“· Nikon Df 16.2 MP CMOS FX-Format Digital SLR Camera with AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G Special Edition Lens - Silver by Larry Cothran

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent image quality, however.

I would give this camera a perfect 5 stars apart from the fact that it doesn't hold up well. The pictures are fantastic and I have no problem with the picture quality as they are excellent. I also have a Nikon D4 and the shots are very similar in contrast, latitude, etc. My problem is the camera surface. The material glued to the front is peeling off (and I even use a retro leather case all the time to protect most of the camera). The tissue around the round disk of the anterior diaphragm also detached. The battery cover on the bottom of the camera tends to fall off when you open the cover. I've got duct tape since you're on set, open the door and it falls. Bad thing. It took me a while to get used to the layout of the dials, but with practice you can get there quickly. As said, the quality of the shots (especially when using the 24-70 Nikkor 2.8 or 70-200 VR) will amaze you. Check out other Nikon cameras I've had: D300, D700, D4 which also started to peel off the fabric and I sent them back to Nikon for repair as I will with Df. Seems their glue is giving up in less than a year of use. With Df, I got it as soon as it was released (November 2013) and it was filmed 3 months later.
