First, it was the only bike I could find without foot brakes and 2 handbrakes that cost less than $150. That being said, my son loves "his first pedal bike without training wheels" even though it's a lot heavier than his Strider balance bike, which we moved from. He loved having a water bottle holder (very handy) and a bell. It took him about 30 minutes to learn how to balance and pedal on the new bike. Thicker tires than regular tires also helped. Now he's coming for a long time!
