Review on Enhanced Print Quality: Creality 3D CR 10S Filament Detector for Seamless Printing Experience by Enrique Espinoza

Great machine for beginners with good upgradability

I am supposed to be new to 3D printing (6 months). I have professional experience with Makerbot Replicator+ and Raise3D Pro2. This is the third machine I print on. I bought this machine for private use. I bought it on 23 Jul 19, it came with a filament run out sensor and bracket, large bed adjustment wheels and a cable strain relief for the heating machine. These are common things that other versions of this printer add. Construction: Construction was good. The instructions are sufficient to assemble and operate the machine. Just make sure the cables are routed so nothing catches and tangles on the frame when the gantry moves. I spent some time checking every bolt on the car to make sure they were tight. A few screws were loose but otherwise everything was fine. The bed dangled heavily from the extrusion. I had to flip the bottom assembly and adjust the bed wheels to be tighter (closer together). You can rotate the bed left to right about 0.25 inches before adjusting the idlers. Aside from that, the stamped wrench they give you isn't very good for nuts. It would be wiser to use a better wrench so you don't strip the nuts. Adjusting the bed was pretty easy. Adjust each angle screw until you get the correct spacing. I used a feeler gauge. what worked best for me. You can use the manual level from the menu. Double check your alignment, especially check all corners even if you only adjust one. The center of my plate is slightly tilted down. I will buy a new mirror instead of the glass that came with it. I have used printers that have an internet connection and have their own slicing software. So it took me a minute to figure out exactly what I needed to make it work. I started by printing a test dog print from the included SD card. That being said I downloaded Cura, they have a profile for this printer. in slicing software and it's free. Cura works just like any other slicer, so it wasn't a big change. The dog has developed extremely well. The quality out of the box was very impressive. Spend some time on Thingiverse. There are many additional "upgrades" that people have come up with for these machines. I printed Z-axis support mounts, a separate filament spool holder, and cable chains to keep the cables from rubbing against the frame. I've had some issues with over-rolling large prints, but the Z-axis support will likely fix that issue. I've been working on it almost non-stop since I received this machine. I think he didn't print for a total of 16 hours over a 120 hour period. I am currently running Superfila and it seems to print beautifully. I have many plans to update this machine and I love that I can easily customize it for myself. So far it has been relatively easy and I only had to adjust the bed twice at the beginning. I'm amazed that a car of this caliber is so cheap. I got it on sale when it was $380, which is about 80% of what my other two cars are selling at 10 times the price.
