Big speed boost. Just make sure you install the correct driver first.

This was purchased for a 2010 Dell Inspiron 1749 that originally came with a Centrino-N adapter. Installation was very easy. There are several videos on Youtube showing the installation on this series of laptops. Six screws to loosen the cover, one screw to loosen the old adapter, and two antenna wires to pop out. Replaced and screwed back on. I turned on the computer and the installation process began. Bluetooth is loaded, but none of the wireless functions are loaded. I understand that the problem lies in the driver. I uninstalled the old driver and used my computer to search the Intel website for the correct driver. Dell did not have support for this card on this laptop. After failing to load the wrong driver, I found my mistake and downloaded the correct one for Windows 7, 64 bit. I installed it from a flash drive, the software loaded and Wi-Fi signals appeared. The speed test before downloading was around 25-30 Mbit/s. After that, the download of 300 Mbit/s on a 5 GHz signal just stopped. I am currently using a 300Mbps Cox AX/Wifi6 router.
