Review on Elevated Cat Water Bowl - Ceramic Raised Tilted Feeder Prevents Vomiting, Perfect For Small Dogs & Fat Faced Cats (White) by Jen Rose

My cat is eating out of it and seems more comfortable

I decided to try Nucookery Elevated cat dish since I have a couple older cats that have kidney disease & their appetites are hit/miss. Elevated dishes that bring the food to the elbow of the cat (it's a lot higher on the front leg than people realize) are recommended for cats over the age of 8, due to arthritic changes (cats don't show much pain but 98% of all cats over the age of 6 have arthritic changes on x-rays). The cat in the first picture isn't the cat the bowl was intended for but he didn't mind the design. It doen't really appear to have much of a slant until you look at it sideways - more than it looks. It is also deeper than I want for a food dish. My older cat has taken to eating out of it with absolutely no problems. He does seem more comfortable while eating, and though it's only been a couple of days, he is eating a little more. For the record: I feed 5 cats and we just dropped from 4 diffferent diets to 3 diets. Everyone has a container with measured out food and their name on it, so it is very easy to see how much each cat is eating. The reason for the 4 stars is the lip - it may be designed that way to keep excess food from falling out but it's a pain for me. After each feeding, the bowls are emptied and the uneaten food goes back to the correct container. The lip catches the food and it's a little easier to spill, especially for the other not-so-care family members. Overall, I am happy with the bowl since my cat is using it. It is about $15 and that seems to be in the general range of prices but be careful not to break it.

Pros
  • The bowl is a lit bit deep, the food might wet the neck fur. Other than this, it’s perfect to have!
Cons
  • May not be suitable for pets with dental issues
