It took me over an hour to figure this thing out and it's still not correct. First I suggest you google or read the suggestions here; I tried following the instructions that came with the kit, which was a mistake (the instructions didn't say how to shorten the unconnected chain; I had to turn to online reviews for that). So I found out on the internet that you have to move the clasp up and down and adjust the chain accordingly. OK, kinda got it. Now you need to learn how to adjust the float. The black discs come off - but not as easily as others have said - but now, no matter how long/short the chain, how far I set the float up or down, my toilet only flushes about 1/2 second and the damper closes again. I've changed the shocks in the past with no problems. Not a fan of that.
