At this price you shouldn't expect industrial quality. Haven't used it for its intended purpose yet (replacing the ridiculous brazed-in dash lightbulbs in my 2004 Yukon is GM's shame on that). Nevertheless, here are a few first impressions. Pros: - The soldering iron looks nice, heats up pretty quickly. - Nice to have variable temperature control. - Generous set of accessories. - Comfortable to touch cover. It will be easy to keep things handy. Soldering 101 online guide is available for free download. Nicely done. Cons: - Stand for holding a hot iron is not very good. The threads on the mounting shaft were so bad that the nuts holding it in place could not be tightened without removing the threads. I ended up getting the right size and recut it, but it was still a little wobbly. A few dabs of JB Weld Epoxy solidified it. The tin base is too light to hold the iron securely. I drilled a few holes and attached it to the board for stability (see photos). - The temperature disc on the iron is really tiny - I'm not sure how accurate it is yet.
