All I needed was a simple passive (no power) USB hub. I liked that it didn't have an LED. I already have enough glowing LEDs connected to the computer. It's all connected to it all the time anyway, so I don't need access to the hub. I hid it in the back of the computer out of sight. I only use 3 of the 4 hub ports. I have an AC powered external DVD drive and 2 printers plugged into the ports. I only use one of these peripherals at a time, so the hub was the perfect solution. Previously, all 4 USB ports on my computer were occupied. Belkin Hub freed 3 ports (including one unused Belkin Hub port). Because this arrangement doesn't draw much power from the USB ports, I don't need to connect an additional Belkin power cord. The DVD drive and the printer work without problems. Windows 7 Plug and Play found drivers for the Belkin and then for every peripheral I connected to it. It's also nice to have an AC adapter if I ever plug a power-hungry USB device into the Belkin in the future. (Although I currently have 2 free future powered USB ports)
