DOES NOT MEET THE SPECIFIED REQUIREMENTS

I've tried this oven 3 times - fresh pork ribs, a frozen bottom roast (about 2 pounds) and a frozen blueberry pie. Day One: Ribs - the cooking chart says they cook 15-17 minutes on each side. Well, after over an hour of cooking, they are FINALLY done. Day Two: Frozen Roast - The cook chart doesn't list times for roasts, so after searching the internet I've estimated that frozen roasts take about 30-35 minutes per pound to medium thickness. The two-pound meat should be ready in 70 minutes. After two hours the roast was beautifully brown and smelled heavenly. Went to the cutting board. My husband cut it in half to test doneness and lo and behold it was FROZEN! In the end we cut the roast into "steaks" and cooked for another half hour. It would be easier in a slow cooker or oven. Now let's try the dessert. Frozen Blueberry Pie. After reading numerous reviews of this type of oven, it was often reported that they do not cook through the bottom of the food as everything has to be turned during cooking. So I covered the top of the cake tightly with foil and baked it upside down at 400 degrees (the standard temperature) for 30 minutes. Then I turned it right side out, removed the foil and baked at 325 degrees for another 45 minutes. The cake looks amazing and tastes great too. But 75 minutes in the oven, which is said to cut cooking time by 50%? No way. Package directions recommend baking the cake for 55-60 minutes in a conventional oven, 15 minutes LESS than a Morning Ware halogen oven. I bought this oven as I work full time and love to cook at home with my husband but my slow cooker will remain my backup for weekday meals as the halogen oven is useless. Not only does it NOT cook food in less time than a traditional oven, it also requires a lot more "babysitting" since food MUST be turned halfway through cooking to cook evenly. I plan to call customer service tomorrow to find out how to return this oven. Even with shipping costs and possible restocking costs, it's better than a $100 unit gathering dust in the basement.

Pros
  • Everything OK!
Cons
  • Not as good as it says
