Easily reduces wind noise. about 55 feet, and with a chin curtain it's comfortable to about 40. It's just a mesh so it doesn't really stop airflow, it just stops wind from getting in your mouth. Installation wasn't too difficult, but it didn't fit very securely. If you are not careful when removing the helmet, you can simply pull out the chin guard. Sometimes I worry that I've pulled it out a bit just because I've been using it while driving and that it might fall on the pavement with the speed, I'll probably tape it back in place.
