Review on Chemical Guys MIC_507_06 Professional Microfiber by Sean Burnett

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The towel is considered the de facto standard. And not for nothing!

They're often considered the benchmark for car wash towels, and with good reason. The microfiber is of the highest quality, one side has longer loops giving it a fluffier feel which is great for drying the car or for a 'soft polish' (e.g. removing soft wax) while the other side has a denser pile ideal for removing/buffing polishes, compounds or other products that leave a crusty residue. The reversible nature makes the towel very versatile, while the quality of the microfiber and the sufficient density of the towels make them great towels in every way and jacks of all trades in the world of details, if you will. And yes, the thread count isn't particularly high, but certainly not thin (I got a couple of cloths in the kit that have the same type of double-sided assembly but have a higher thread count - great that you can soak up more water, but in my opinion in such a way that the performance of the shorter pile side suffers a little). word) thread count, which allows more towels to absorb water. And while it's not related to the product itself, the price for a 6-pack in 16x24 (large) is amazing. I bought a couple of these for $14.70 which is over 60% less than the price at all other retailers (I saw a 6 pack of 16x16 for $40 so the price is literally amazing). My only concern is that after soaking the towel in the degreaser I use, which is a natural 3D Orange degreaser (I do this to pre-treat my towels after using them to get stubborn dirt/grime stains like removing black spots that appear from accidental rubbing through window moldings) causes significant fading of the towel. This does not affect the properties of the towel, but from an aesthetic point of view I like the pleasant golden yellow color of the towel. And remember, microfiber towels are used to dry cars because each individual filament of synthetic material is "forked", which allows the towel to keep dirt on the filaments off the surface and has some negative static electricity. Charge that attracts dust. Using softer fabrics, drier sheets, etc. will clog the gaps in the threads and rob them of their benefits. The same goes for using water that is too hot or drying towels with too much heat. You have to use a special microfiber detergent (which is basically just detergent with no additives, but you can get it pretty cheap so picking things up isn't a scam in my opinion), wash on the 'colors' setting (warm wash, cool rinse) and tumble dry with little or no heat - heat melts synthetic threads so avoid excessive amounts. There are fluffy towels, towels that absorb a lot of water, towels with different colored sides that are easy to wash without rinsing so you don't reuse the dirty side, etc. But if you can only have one type of towel that this guy wins because he can do everything and he can do everything well! And the fact that I got 6 packs of 16x24 towels for basically $2 each is amazing in itself!
