These things completely change the braking performance of V-brake bikes, almost to the same extent as disc brakes. the squeak and noise commonly associated with rim brakes and they perform MUCH better than regular stock V-brake pads, especially in the wet. On your rim, the edge of the brake pad scrapes it off with one wheel revolution, leaving the rim surface clean and dirt-free for efficient braking. but you don't have money for hydraulic disc brakes then these are for you. These are the ideal brakes to bridge the gap between V-brakes and hydraulic disc brakes. For the price of these pads compared to mechanical discs, they are much more profitable. Replacing a rim brake with a disc brake can be expensive because in most cases you will need a new wheelset. Due to the cost of converting to disc brakes, I consider mechanical discs irrelevant. To me, if your bike is currently a V-brake bike, it's either these Kool brake pads or a complete hydraulic disc conversion. All in all, if you have a V-brake bike but are on a budget then this is your new best friend.
