I have several microscopes with different eyepiece diameters. This one, with its advertised ability to run three sizes with included adapters, sounded perfect. That? Yes and no. I ordered with a Nikon T adapter. Delivery was fast. It didn't come with instructions, but if you buy these you won't need them. It is well made, it seems to be made of aluminum. Since it works in place of an eyepiece, it contains lenses to focus the lens's image. I haven't had a chance to check the image quality yet. But there are two problems with it, one small, the other more serious but not insurmountable. First, there is no dot on the adapter that indicates where to place it to mount it on the camera. After playing with it 3 times, I applied a small dot of white paint to it. Of course, this will wear out over time, but just replace it before it goes away. Hardly a significant problem. The second is more serious and concerns adapters. The base unit is machined to fit a 23.5mm eyepiece tube. The two adapters are simply sockets that each fit a 23.5mm end. The problem is that nothing is holding her. If you attach one and then insert it into the microscope, the adapter may slip off and sink into the microscope frame. Not desirable. The buyer should decide how to fix this before using the adapter. (Of course, if his scope doesn't need it, then he has no problem.) After going through all this, I found several possible solutions. If someone has a metal lathe (I have several), the best way to do this is to machine a new one with their holding method of choice. Or you can drill and cut one or more holes radially and insert set screws. (Better remember to check tightness regularly.) The Kludge method is to wrap tape around the smaller one until the adapter is tight. nope! Aside from being too coarse, you need to peel off the tape to resize. Sticking epoxy is even worse, it will never come loose. I ended up making a washer that had an inside diameter slightly larger than the hole in the adapter and an outside diameter too big to slip down the barrel and then JB welded it to one end of the adapter. Problem solved. In the near future I will test the optical quality. But so far I'm satisfied. For now.
