Works as advertised

Some of the negative reviews had me worried about this product but I found it worked pretty well once you understand what it is and what its limitations are. MUST be used in manual mode. Communication between it and your camera is absolutely zero. There's no aperture control here, and you're focusing with a microscope, not a camera. Once you understand this, it will be very easy to use. Focus with your microscope's eyepiece, replace the eyepiece with this adapter and your camera, adjust the…

AmScope Microscope Adapter for Nikon DSLR

The microscope adapter worked great with my Nikon D70 and D7000 cameras. The adapter replaces the lens of your camera. Has a built-in 2x lens. All I had to do was remove the eyepiece from my microscope and the adapter with the attached camera fell straight into the eyepiece tube. Focusing is done via the focus control of the microscope. Other adapters are also included, but my scopes don't have tubes for them. I have used this with both a compound monocular microscope and a binocular dissection

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Modern

Came to my D7000. It worked fine with my old B&L oscilloscope. It doesn't have a rear lens cap, which meant my camera's lens had to be kept in a bag until I ordered a rear lens cap. Point to align the points, nor does it snap into place. It's going to be tough (but works well), the camera has to be set to manual focus, and the pictures are taken in manual "M" mode. Note that I need to set the ASA speed before setting it to "M" as it is not adjustable in "M" and note that I need to set the…

Very good DSLR microscope adapter

This adapter is very well made and has good metalwork so it fits right in the spot of my optical microscope's eyepiece. I have attached various Nikon DSLRs (D100, D200 and D7000) and they were all securely mounted. I first focused the microscope on the slide using the eyepiece and then replaced the eyepiece with an adapter and camera. I then refocused the microscope to zero the focus of the camera. The camera must be set to manual focus and manual exposure. Shutter speed 1/15 to 1/40 second on…

Read the reviews before buying

I tried the AmScope NDPL-1(2x) adapter with two microscopes: AmScope SE30SR-P-LED dissecting microscope (10-30x) and AmScope B120B compound microscope (40x - 400x) with Nikon D3000 dSLR camera. Setup was easy, but the results were disappointing. I used to use the afocal approach (holding or supporting the camera with its own lens next to the eyepiece). Using a simple point and shoot camera through the eyepiece gave better results than using the NDPL-1(2x) adapter with a Nikon DSLR. The image of

Simple tips for use with Nikon D90

I have used this adapter with my Nikon 90 on various microscopes. Given the low cost, I couldn't be happier with the performance. Of course there is some chromatic aberration and the image is not as clear as the best ($$$) glass, but for the price it works very well and is very comfortable. Here are a few tips to get the best results with the D90: 1) Focus through the camera using "Lv" mode. The plane of focus is not exactly the same as the microscope lens, so you need to focus it first with…

Pros and cons of this adapter.

I have several microscopes with different eyepiece diameters. This one, with its advertised ability to run three sizes with included adapters, sounded perfect. That? Yes and no. I ordered with a Nikon T adapter. Delivery was fast. It didn't come with instructions, but if you buy these you won't need them. It is well made, it seems to be made of aluminum. Since it works in place of an eyepiece, it contains lenses to focus the lens's image. I haven't had a chance to check the image quality yet…
