My defroster tab has been fixed!

First, I picked up some defrost repair kits from my local auto repair shop. While they worked, they only lasted about a week or two before the tab fell off again. I ended up searching the internet for alternatives other than buying a new rear window. I tried conductive tape and liquid solder sold at the Lowes store. both didn't work at all. I ended up buying it because the price was quite high. I only wish I had stumbled upon this sooner rather than spending over $40 on other alternatives. When used correctly, epoxy cures like concrete but retains electrical conductivity. Here is a step by step guide on how I repaired the defrost tab on my Toyota Solara 04. -Remove the rear glass on the driver's side with a window remover. - Remove the tab from the wire. -Remove the solder on the underside of the tab that attaches to the window. I initially tried using a soldering gun but found that using a drill with an attached wire brush was easy to "sand off" the excess. - Clean the tongue and put it on the glass with alcohol. Make sure the new position does not match where the tongue fell off. Use a small vise to hold the tongue. I found a great spot to use the rear seat top pad to tighten the vise to hold the tab to the glass. He was very durable. Take a piece of cardboard and a stir stick. Squeeze out the epoxy at a 1 to 1 ratio (1 black tube 1 white tube), I only ended up using 1/4 tube. Mix well. The epoxy will harden after a while, so don't rush it. Use a stirrer to apply the mixture liberally to the tongue. (I put a small amount on the floor) Make sure you spread it out so it makes contact with the circuitry on the glass. Use a hair dryer to help the epoxy cure. Very important: Do not touch while it is drying! I took the blow dryer and set it on low heat since it was only 6 inches from the edge. left to stand for 20 min. Came back and the epoxy cured. Remove the screw terminal and reattach the wire to the tongue. Check this with a multimeter before replacing the plate. Enjoy great work!
