Review on Creuset Enamel Steel 3 Quart Teakettle by Bryan Hill

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good kettle but nothing special

I like Le Creuset pots and pans for their style and durability and I bought this kettle hoping it would bring the same benefits. When I receive the package I'm pleased with the style and unique color scheme, but it's not as durable as most Le Creuset products I'm familiar with. It's still a quality product, but you're not buying a teapot to be passed on to your grandchildren. I expect other brands will offer longer lasting pots at the same or lower price point if you're looking for this. The body is made of thinner steel rather than cast iron and probably isn't as thick as their enameled steel pots and pans. The main limitation of its durability are plastic nozzles, which inevitably break over time (handle, whistle, cap handle). I don't necessarily blame them, as a heavy steel kettle can last longer but takes significantly longer to heat up. Accepting that, I resigned to the purchase without any regrets. I would rather change the kettle every 7-10 years if that allows me to have coffee/tea 1-2 minutes earlier.
