UPDATE: ATTENTION! I've been using it for almost 3 months. About 2 weeks ago the pilot light stopped working, then it only worked intermittently and today I flooded it and it didn't work at all. I've turned the controller on and off several times but to no avail. I left it on, thinking it would turn on by itself like it used to. Then I smelled something burning, looked at it, heard crackling and sparks flying from below, ricocheting forward. This is the second block from these guys that has an electrical problem. This one lasted about three months and the last one lasted 1 month. NO SAFE AT ALL! The device arrived on time and well packaged. In terms of performance, I don't see any noticeable difference between the lowest and highest settings. They produce about the same amount of fog. As for the 30-hour runtime, I don't see it even on the lowest settings. This is a small unit that will increase the humidity in a small room, say 10 x 12, by about 10% with the door closed. I have two humidifiers on each side of the room and compare them throughout the day. It works fine but I think the claimed specs are a bit bold. If you live in a very dry climate or have a heating system that burns a lot of moisture I would buy a larger unit than this. Especially if it's a bedroom and dryness while sleeping is a problem. I wouldn't put it in a large room with a lot of open entrances to the room. I keep it as a backup or as an addition to a larger unit when it's very cold outside and the air is very dry.
