We are renovating our house. If you do any electrical DIY work (we've replaced our switches with rocker switches and new outlets/sockets), these two items are a must! Necessary. Always turn off the switch box BEFORE doing any wiring work. Sperry's voltmeter is accurate. Not overly sensitive (mentioned in some reviews) but can be a little difficult to use on walls with multiple outlets. Otherwise it worked great for me. Especially when I needed to test individual wires in a junction box. The Sperry socket tester is perfect! Easy to use and the visual confirmation lights are awesome. It can also test your GFCI socket at the push of a button. Easy. The voltmeter is powered by a AAA battery (in my opinion, that's the only negative), and the socket tester can be taken out of the box. Happy DIY! BE SURE.
