Shortly before our 25th birthday our old toaster got dusty (guess when we got it). The kitchen of our Victorian home is tight on space and we thought the design of this wall mounted toaster was a good idea. There's something of a 1950s vibe to the design - something like a Wurlitzer jukebox, or maybe a little nod to what's going on with Flash Gordon. We like it very much. PROS: * I can't say enough good things about being able to see your toast working - it's a whole aspect of utility that other toasters don't even consider. * All controls are front-facing and easy to see - no more craning your neck to the toaster to see which button is which - and then still guessing because the seal is likely to have worn off. or wondering which way to turn the dial to make your toast lighter or darker. * Really beautiful and a little bit different. We like things that are a little different, or our children, or our dogs. CONS: * I thought about giving it a star because, as others have reported, the ejection spring is a little - how to put it. That? - enthusiastic. Occasionally, especially with a smaller or lighter item, your breakfast will be thrown right out of the slot. But when we think about it, we find it more amusing than annoyingβand a lot better than fishing your toast out of a slot because your spring has lost its charm. So we actually think it's a small plus. In case you're wondering, when you choose a bagel, it toasts the side facing the window so you can still see your toast being toasted, so the designers knew about it. At the moment ours tend to brown faster towards the top than towards the bottom, but other reviewers have found that this somehow evens out over time, so we believe in the presumption of the doubt and hope ours does too . It's not dramatically uneven, but it's noticeable now. My wife was a little hesitant to spend over twenty bucks on a toaster, but we're both glad we did as this thing is very well designed, just looks great and something that's a bit different from a standard polished cube distinguishes and adds a touch of style to the kitchen table. And if we can see how our toast is doing, we'll never burn breakfast again. Terrific!
