I really wanted to like this product. I've had pretty good experiences with other LG products I've bought. Appears to be well built. Applications open fairly quickly, the display is fine. The sound quality from the speaker is mediocre but I usually use a Bluetooth headset so it didn't really matter. The layout is a bit cluttered, but not too much bloatware. Basically, I like the tablet. The problem is that I bought this tablet specifically to be used as a universal remote. Everything else is superfluous. I bought this tablet over other similar or cheaper priced tablets because it has infrared and presumably can run various universal android remote apps that can be found on google play. In short, it can't. For some reason LG decided to limit infrared access on this device to a (proprietary?) remote app (QuickRemote). It's annoying but okay. Those of you with a high-end LG phone may have used QuickRemote and it will get the job done (from what I've read). Unfortunately, the version of QuickRemote available for the LG tablet is not fully functional. Basically, in the US, you get 2 devices, a TV and a cable box. I wish someone would have posted this information in the Revain reviews before I bought this, so I'm doing it now. I had to dig through various internet forums before I found out about it. A forum has pointed out a workaround where the options have been tweaked to enable the UK option that allows you to add DVD/Bluray. Apparently the 2 devices you get in the UK are TV and DVD. However, this means that to get all 3 you have to toggle between the app and settings. The developers are aware of this and have announced that once LG opens up their code, they will be adapting their remote apps for use on LG tablets. However, I see posts on online forums talking about this from 2014 and 2015, so I wouldn't hold my breath.
