Review on LivingAid 6 Pack Reusable K Cups for Keurig, Stainless Steel Coffee Filters by Aaron Ethridge

Good replacement for disposable cups

Our single serve Cuisinart coffee maker is designed for K cups. It also comes with a reusable filter, which we prefer. The plastic hinge was worn out, so we replaced it with a second one, which was also starting to wear out. Looking for another replacement I found these and decided to give it a try. They are slightly smaller than the reusable filter the machine came with so the wife was concerned the coffee would not be as good. I pointed out that they are the same size as the k cups we use sometimes and the other one is bigger but also a bit thinner so probably the same amount of coffee. It seems to require a little less coffee, but as far as we can tell it didn't affect the outcome in any way. Our coffee maker doesn't have an "official K-Cup" sensor, so it doesn't matter. how it is oriented in the holder. I noticed that the plastic lid is (reasonably) a bit thicker than the foil lids on K-Cups and it fits the holder very well. Sometimes a bit of coffee on the lip makes it too thick for the door to feel like it's closed, so it's necessary to press harder or scrape the coffee to get the job done. Run your finger along the edge to ensure there are no accidental sanding marks. Nice that there are six of them in the package. Since we sometimes make cups in a row in the morning, we can fill a few of them and get through it faster. We also installed some of these the night before so everyone could make their own cup before leaving in the morning without wasting time cleaning and refilling each cup. This is the part that really conquered the woman. I see the plastic hinge as a weak point in all these reusable containers. This hinge requires literally thousands of not always careful cycles of use to complete. I mean, who counts the little piece of plastic when they spill the last one and stick the next one in, right? Those six spares were half of it, so they're probably still worth their value even if they don't last as long.

Pros
  • Reusable filters
Cons
  • I'll write later
