Review on Sceptre U278W 4000R 4K DisplayPort Monitor with Built-In Speakers and IPS Technology by Sean Webster

Revainrating 2 out of 5

The bad outweighs the good!

Let's start with the bad experience, the monitor itself is fine, 4k looks amazing on it but you have to make sure the screen is pointed straight at you at any angle and the colors are a mess. On day one I noticed the monitor had these crazy lines of glitches popping up from top to bottom on random pages that looked like a broken LED screen. As time went on, she appeared more and more. The speakers are terrible but what do you expect from a cheap 4k monitor. The stand has to be screwed in yourself (which isn't a problem), but one of the screws isn't fully screwed in, causing the mount to wobble a lot. It says 72Hz but is limited to 60Hz and cannot be overclocked. The screen tears like crazy for most of my games. Okay, so you get a good 4K picture, colors and a little dull, but it still gets the job done. The games look great but I wouldn't recommend it for avid gamers, frames make a difference but still playable for the norm. The screen folds back and has 2 HDMI ports, a DP port and a DVI port. The power cord isn't big at all, all in all it's really a thin, light monitor that's easy to move around. The monitor itself isn't bad if you really want 4K pictures, but the bad pretty much outweighs the good. I would recommend this monitor if you are looking for a cheap 4k monitor but otherwise I wouldn't buy this thing. I'd rather spend my money on a 1080p 144Hz or 1440p 144Hz monitor. I knew nothing when I bought this monitor because I was relatively new to PC gaming and knew nothing about FPS or refresh rate. Had I known then what I know now, I most defiantly would have saved the few hundred more I need to get a decent 4k monitor.
