Works. The pointed end cuts perfectly into a "tin" can, and the rounded end easily opens the neck of a soda or beer bottle. In the early '60s these little bottle openers were branded with the logo and information of a local liquor store and given away as promotional gifts. I think they were a staple in almost every kitchen drawer. We would use the pointed end for large Hi-C fruit jars or condensed milk jars. All openers these days are big, bulky devices. I like to have these compact ones in the front of the drawer, ready to hand and space-saving. The carrier was good but I wish they wouldn't charge the $4 shipping fee for a second opener.
