Decent PS4 USB controller with important limitations

This is a regular controller. It's not great, it's not spectacular, it's just "good". It works, and in some cases very well. However, this control also has disadvantages. Let's start with the cons. Cons: * No headphone jack * No accessory jack * No rumble * No LED light (both minus and plus) * No speaker * No SixAxis * Shoulder buttons can be difficult to use until you get the hang of it. These are buttons, not triggers. *Paint peeling off buttons *Drifting is common in some games *Controller may turn off randomly *PS button does not turn on PS4. All of this means that games that require some or all of the above requirements can be scaled down when using this controller. For example, playing Detroit Become Human (or similar SixAxis games) is not possible with this controller. That means it has no motion detection. So if the game asks you to swipe the controller down or forward, you can't do that with the Hori Pad. This is also not possible with games that send sound to the controller's speaker (Grand Theft Auto). Pros: * Asymmetrical joysticks like Xbox One * No LED backlight to blind you at night (see I said it's a pro too) * Fully functional full-size touchpad * Automatically repeating programmable button press * Sensitivity adjustment on the bottom of the controller * Button Remapping on the controller* Fairly solid build* Mostly solid build* No batteries* Extremely light At $50, which isn't far under the price of a full-featured PS4 wireless controller from Sony, you really expect a little more. Yes, this is a USB controller, which means wired. and it's good for a pinch when you need it plugged in. The problem is that it doesn't have all the features like speaker, vibration, SixAxis, LED, 3.5mm headphone jack and accessory jack. That means you'll have to find other ways to connect your chat headset (e.g. wirelessly) or keyboard to your PS4 if you want to use this controller. Does this controller have any advantages over its wireless cousin? Nothing I can really say. I was expecting a much more responsive USB controller, but actually the Sony SixAxis wireless controller is just as good as this wired controller in terms of responsiveness. and since the PS4 controller is full-featured, it offers more options for the price. The main advantage of this controller is that it has no batteries. That means you don't have to interrupt your gaming session midway through and switch controllers. You can keep playing indefinitely unless your game crashes of course. You don't have to worry about controller batteries at all. Another thing I always do for all my controllers is put silicone joystick covers on each joystick. It does several things. First, it gives me the same grip no matter what controller I'm using since I always use the same vertices. Second, the silicone pads protect the joystick pads from wear or breakage. Third, unlike built-in caps, they can be replaced when they wear out. which simplifies the replacement of silicone pads on the handles. I can also move vertices from controller to controller. It works for me with almost any controller, but it works well with the Hori Pad. It also helps the controller last longer. I have had a Hori Pad for 3 years now. True, the drawn characters on the buttons are mostly erased. It's far from a perfect joystick. no Does it cost $50? Em. it depends. For me it was. For others it may not be. $50 is a price that really should represent the best value. If you're using a programmable repeating joystick action, it's probably worth $50. If you never use this feature, you probably won't. It also feels a little cheap in the hand and is very light. surprisingly easy. That lightness is largely due to the fact that there's no rumble or battery to weigh it down. Also, the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack, accessory jack, LED and speaker further reduces the weight of this joystick. This makes it one of the lightest joysticks I've ever used. Basically, it's the complete opposite of the Xbox One Elite Controller, which is by far one of the heaviest controllers out there. Holding a stone can be very tiring. Having a light controller is a huge benefit, at least for me, and helps me play longer without getting tired. The asymmetrical joystick design also helps reduce fatigue. However, this controller has a lot of compromises for this $50. I would suggest reading the pros and cons above to get a better idea of how this controller might perform for your gaming needs and what trade-offs you might have to consider. Ignore the dust on my controller pic but mine looks like this. after use since 2016.
