Solid Music LED Controller

I'd like to start by saying I'm very happy with the quality of music playback; This turned out to be way better than anything I've coded for the Arduino. It's from China and has the typical bad documentation, but I won't deduct anything for that; Given the price I am very satisfied. I first burned a short strip of 2812s which I tested by powering them with 12v instead of the 5v needed. Something to keep in mind if you're used to working with 12v 5050 options. It's also worth noting that it doesn't regulate the voltage, so whatever you give it is what the LED strings get . Oddly, a few LEDs would light up and change color when 12V was applied, so before realizing my error I thought maybe the controller or remote was defective. Adding to my confusion was the remote control, which according to the documentation is RF but has an IR emitter. The controller doesn't appear to have an IR receiver, so how would that work? Rest assured, whether or not the remote control has an IR emitter, it allows us to communicate via radio, which I really wasn't expecting at this price point. I'm not sure how long this button battery will last in an RF remote, but I doubt it will be an issue for my use. Anyway, I hope my experience helps someone!
