This is a very reliable cage. It really is too small for a Syrian hamster but will make a great travel cage. The floor pan is easy to clean and very durable. The wire tip is also very durable. The fasteners that attach the bottom shell to the wire top hold everything together securely. I didn't have the strength to put them on so a friend did. On the top there is a very practical handle. It has a big door. It is about 7 1/2 inches wide and about 6 inches high. It took me a while to figure out how to lock the door, but once I get the hang of it, it locks very securely. I really like this cage! This would be a great cage for one of those little hamsters. I have a glass and stainless steel water bottle. This is a great travel cage for Syrian hamsters. It didn't come with NO instructions! It took me a while to figure out how to assemble it. After doing that, I was very happy with it. As I said, this is a very reliable hamster cage. Spacing between wires 1/2 inch. I don't know if this would be safe for a small mouse.
